50th Reunion Comments and Reminiscences

Do you have a special comment or memory about the 50th reunion you would like to share? If so, sent it to Bill Shaw at runwriter@sbcglobal.net.    Please keep your comments to about 100 words, but you may send more than one. For example, you may want to recognize the reunion committee for their superlative work in planning our event.  Perhaps you saw someone you have not seen for 50 years, and you had special memories or  long-delayed apologies--I know of at least one.

Personally, I shall remember Linda Clegg Zimmerman stopping by me on the road while I was running and asking if I needed a ride.

No comments which violate good taste and morals will be published. As a retired English professor, I promise not to grade your comments and send you the grade; I shall, however, edit your submissions. No submissions will be posted anonymously.

50th Reunion PowerPoint Show:

The 50th Reunion PowerPoint Show is too big a file to place on the Web site, and if it were on the site, it would take three to five minutes to download. Therefore, I have not placed it here for viewing as I said I would at the reunion.  Sorry.

September 23, 2007

Dear Mary Ann, Bill and Pat,   First of all, I want to thank all of you, and the entire Reunion Committee,  for the smashing success of our 50th Class Reunion.  I had a ball!   I am only sorry that some of our classmates missed the occasion.

Bill, I am very grateful to you for your efforts to keep us electronically in touch.  I think the Website is a great idea and I am sure it will keep us closer.   One of the regrets that I had after the Reunion ended was not being able to spend time talking and sharing with everybody that I wanted to during the short period we had together.   I really wanted to know more about what has happened  in the lives of many of my classmates in the last 50 (still sounds unreal)  years ,  i.e. family, profession, travels, places lived,  political interest, personal experiences they would share,  etc.   Obviously, time did not permit this.   I know that some of us may have personal Websites but many do not.   What do you think about featuring our classmates (perhaps alphabetically) on the website with “whatever” information they would share.   Jimmy Stockard sends me the ’54 FPHS “bulletins” and they started doing this after their last reunion.

Again, thanks and hugs to all for a wonderful event.

I was able to attend the Friday night part of our reunion, but due to a commitment, I was not about to attend the Saturday night dinner/dance and thus was not in the "reunion photo."  This is me flying in one of my Flight Simulation aircraft over Lake Tahoe. (I didn't have a United Airlines hat, so I used my Coast Guard hat.) I was in the military for 30-plus years.
